Wow. Actually I think my exact words were, ‘OMG NO WAY!’
I just experienced the best weekend of my life. Nothing compares to the experience of hanging out with your tribe (in this case, fellow authors) and connecting with like-minded people. Interacting in person with those who are pursuing the craft is an experience I highly recommend. Almost any writing conference will give you knowledge you did not have before.
The conference hosted by Chanticleer Reviews, however, is that tiny step above. Why? Because this conference is not geared primarily to the author beginning their journey, but to those who have arrived. It is focused on those who have put in the time, who had struggled to learn the craft of writing, who have chased down the concept of book marketing and why you need to become proficient at it. For me, there was a totally different feel to this conference, although there were many familiar faces in attendance.
This was only the third year for this conference, but I can see it growing tremendously over the coming years. It has something special to offer; a unique focus on award-winning books and authors, and helping to discover talent that otherwise would not be seen.
I am fortunate to be one of those authors. I am excited and humbled at the same time. Never in my wildest dreams (well maybe in my wildest!) did I expect to win at Chanticleer.
Not only did I win once, but I won twice. Now, as the announcements are being made live, I am thrilled to share with you my award-winning novel, Seer of Souls!
It is the first novel of the Spirit Shield Saga and my debut novel. I cannot tell you, what this means to me. It is beyond my wildest dreams.
You can read the official announcement here!
I am thrilled for all those who entered. I made some new friends and connections I would not have made otherwise.
It is not an easy contest to win. They had entrants from 33 countries. Don’t be afraid to enter! They are taking submissions for the 2017 awards (to be presented in 2018) right now. Enter, what do you have to lose?
So where do I go from here? Well I have entered the second book of the series, Soul Sanctuary into the 2017 competition. I actually think it’s a better book! Maybe you do too….or would if you read it?
The series is now complete, Soul Sacrifice was launched last week and is now available for purchase on all fine retailers.
Paperback or E-book, don’t you think it’s time to check out the series?
The Spirit Shield Saga – over 1000 pages of epic mythology to fill your kindle or kobo!
